Kamehameha Schools was established in 1887. The school was founded by, Bernice Pauahi Bishop and was made for young Hawaiians to become good and industrious stewards of Hawaiʻi. Over the years many things have changed or re-developed. Some examples are like, the school is now co-ed through elementary to high-school. Not only has that been a change but, the buildings purposes and uses have re-developed as well. Buildings like Kaʻahumanu is now used as classrooms and fitness facilities; and Haleākala is now used as art and English classrooms. Moving further down the hill, Kekūanāoʻa use to house the "Akahi" of the hill but now has the purpose of being a student support center. Iʻve learned many things while walking through the campus and made the realization that although things may have changed in either looks or purposes; the mission and vision of our founder, Bernice Pauahi Bishop, still stands strong.
